For a Day, Google Made It Easy to Spoof Satellite Imagery

Google briefly launched a new Earth tool that allowed users to generate AI-altered deepfake satellite maps before pulling it back after widespread backlash. The feature raised serious concerns about disinformation risks, given that satellite imagery is widely used by journalists and investigators to verify real-world events. Google removed the tool within roughly 24 hours of its release.
